This program is designed to help individuals develop the basic entry-level skills needed for a career in massage therapy. Students will complete over 600 hours of training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, Chinese medicine, ethics, business practices, and a wide variety of bodywork modalities, including Swedish massage, reflexology, and acupressure.  Students will have ample opportunity to practice their skills by working with clients in a supervised setting.

This is a two-semester evening program.  During each semester students will have ample opportunity to practice the techniques being taught.  In the first semester, students will experience massage techniques in both the role of the therapist and the client.  Students will work in pairs to practice each new technique being taught.  In the second semester, students will expand their experience to include giving massage to family and friends and, during the Clinical Massage class, clients from the community.

Our program is not currently affiliated with any national massage therapy organizations.  Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and a transcript detailing the topics covered.  The state of Colorado currently has no requirements for certification for massage therapist.  Students planning to pursue a career in massage in other states may want to get information about the requirements for that state.  Students interested in becoming certified massage therapists may want to apply to take the National Certification Examination for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks.  Our program has been submitted to them for review, and has been accepted by them as providing the required areas of training.  You will be given our school code upon successful completion of our program.

This program is currently being offered through the Community Education Department.  All classes in this program will be offered in an evening or weekend format.  Students planning to complete the entire program will need to sign up for a semester at a time.
