Our Community Education Department offers some of the Automotive and Diesel Master Technician classes in an evening or weekend format.  These classes may be offered in full or in a modular format.  Call 874-7671 for more information and current schedule.

ADE 121 Hydraulic Systems I                                                                                     3 Credits

Offers instruction on the basic fundamentals of hydraulics and their applications.  Diagnosis, service, and testing along with safety are stressed within this course.

ADE 150 Big Bore Diesel Engine Repair                                                                    3 Credits

Emphasizes the Cummins diesel engine overhaul.  Engine disassembly, inspection, preparation, and installation of the block, crankshaft, camshaft, pistons, liners, cylinder heads, and rocker lever assembly are covered. The Cummins PT fuel pump and cylindriccal injector is also discussed.

ADE 200 Diesel Injection                                                                                              2 Credits

Focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosis, and minor repair of injection pumps, injection nozzles, and governors that are used in todays diesel industry.

ADE 210 Air Brake Systems                                                                                        2 Credits

Teaches instruction in general service and maintenance procedures for the heavy-duty truck air brake system and its related pneumatic components.  Operational checks, performance testing, and verifying system compliance with regulations will be discussed.

ASE 101 Auto Shop Orientation                                                                                  2 Credits

Focuses on maintaining a safe and clean working environment and properly use and care for hand, electric, air and hydraulic tools safely. Covers how to clean equipment properly, to handle and dispose of hazardous materials correctly, and to apply mandated regulations.

ASE 110 Brakes I                                                                                                            3 Credits

Covers basic operation of automotive braking systems.  Includes operation, diagnosis, and basic repair of disc brakes, drum bakes, and basic hydraulic systems.

ASE 120 Basic Automotive Electricity                                                                       2 Credits

This course is an introduction to automotive electricity.  Included in the course are basic electrical theory, circuit designs, and wiring methods.  Students are also introduced to multi-meter usage and wiring diagrams.

ASE 123 Auto Battery/Starting/Charging Systems                                              2 Credits

This course covers the operation, testing, and servicing of automotive battery, starting, and charging systems.  Included in the course are voltage and amperage testing of starter and generator, load testing and maintenance of a battery, starter and generator overhaul.

ASE 130 General Engine Diagnosis                                                                             2 Credits

Focuses on lecture and related laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and necessary corrective actions of automotive engine performance factors.

ASE 132 Ignition System Diagnosis Repair                                                                2 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the diagnosis, service, adjustments and repair of various automotive ignition systems.

ASE 134 Automotive Emissions                                                                                    2 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and repair of automotive emission control systems.

ASE 140 Suspension and Steering I                                                                             3 Credits

Focuses on lecture and related experiences in the diagnosis and service of suspensions and steering systems and their components.

ASE 150 Automotive U-Joint Axle Shaft Service                                                       2 Credits

The study of the opeating principles and repair procedures relating to axle-shaft and universal joints.

ASE 151 Automotive Manual Transmission/Transaxles Clutches                         2 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and repair of automotive manual transmissions, transaxles and clutches and related components.

ASE 152 Differentials 4WD/AWD Service                                                                     2 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and related laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and repair of automotive differentials, four-wheel and all-wheel drive units.

ASE 160 Automotive Engine Removal Installation                                                    1 Credit

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the removal and installation procedures of the automotive engine form and into front wheel and rear wheel drive vehicles.

ASE 161 Engine Disassembly, Diagnosis, Assembly                                                  5 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the disassembly, diagnosis, and reassembly of the automotive engine.  Topics will include the diagnostic and repair procedures for the engine block and head assemblies.

ASE 210 Brakes II                                                                                                              3 Credits

This course covers the operation and theory of the modern automotive braking systems.  Included in the course are operation, diagnosis, service, and repair of the anti-lock braking systems, power assist units and machine operations of today's automobile.

ASE 220 Special Electronics Training                                                                            2 Credits

This course provides a systematic approach to automotive electrical systems.  This course builds from the basic electrical principals and concepts through semiconductors and microprocessors.  On-bench exercises are features of the classroom activities.  The students will practice diagnostic procedures that have applications to present and future automotive electronics and electrical systems.

ASE 221 Automotive Body Electrical                                                                             4 Credits

This course provides a comprehensive study of the theory, operation, diagnosis, and repair of vehicle accessories.

ASE 231 Automotive Computers                                                                                    2 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the inspection and testing of typical computerized engine control systems.

ASE 233 Fuel Injection Exhaust Systems                                                                   4 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and repair of electronic fuel injection systems and modern exhaust systems.

ASE 235 Driveability and Diagnosis                                                                                1 Credit

A comprehensive course covering diagnostic techniques and the use of diagnostic scan tools, oscilloscopes, lab scopes, multimeters and gas analyzers.  Students will diagnose live vehicle driveability problems.

ASE 240 Suspension and Steering II                                                                             3 Credits

Emphasizes lecture and related experiences in the diagnosis and service of electronic suspensions and steering systems and their components.

ASE 250 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Service                                                1 Credit

Focuses on practical methods of maintaining, servicing, and performing minor adjustments on an automatic transmission and transaxle.

ASE 265 Heating  Air Conditioning                                                                                 5 Credits

A comprehensive course combining lecture and related laboratory experiences in the diagnosis and service of automotive heating and air conditioning systems and their components.
